Installing DEKA Battery Isolator with Two Wire Alternator

Question:

Hello I am trying to hook up my battery isolator to my 1987 Chevrolet Blazer Full size K5 the instructions are a bit confusing, the instructions say I may need to purchase a different alternator plug , the plug on my vehicle has two wires coming out of it. 1 red wire and 1 black wire my question is do I need the new plug? If i do not need the new plug do i have to connect a new wire to terminal 1 on the isolator and splice into one of the wires on the plug to the alternator?

Expert Reply:

You would not need a new plug. You would run the positive wire from the alternator to the 1 and A post of the Isolator # DW08771. Check out the attached picture for a wiring diagram.
